Summer Heat Doesn’t Deter Record Crowd at ERX Off-Road National
More Than 5,000 Fans Enjoy 400 Acre Facility During Lucas Oil Midwest Short Course League Off-Road Truck Races; Johnny Greaves, Hord, and Vanden Heuvel Score Top Truck Wins
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Elk River, Minn. July 17, 2018 – The biggest motorsports weekend in the Twin Cities did not disappoint thousands of fans as the ERX Motor Park Off-Road National presented by Polaris delivered a 900-horsepower assault on the senses. With more than 5,000 fans in attendance for the Lucas Oil Midwest Short Course League off-road truck series, the visceral racing atmosphere was bolstered by live music, ATV freestyle shows, Polaris RS1 celebrity race, outdoor expo, and a kids fun zone.
With plenty of hot and steamy weather on tap throughout the two-day event, the earth shredding action on the purpose-built one-mile off-road racing track easily trumped Mother Nature. With top off-road racers including the father/son duo of Johnny and CJ Greaves, Chad Hord, Mike Vanden Heuvel, and hometown favorite Andrew Carlson, the thunderous roar of 900-horsepower trucks saw fans soaking up the rays to witness the power and high-flying action. To add to the excitement and much to the delight of his hometown fans, Carlson found himself on the podium three times in the top truck classes.
There were plenty of other celebrities on tap beyond the Lucas Oil competitors. Polaris Industries showcased their rally inspired RS1 with a race featuring former snocross champ and current action sport athlete Levi LaVallee, as well as Diesel Dave and The Muscle from Discovery Channel’s hit television show “Diesel Brothers.”
Now encompassing 400-acres complete with wooded campsites, two world-class closed-course tracks, and an ever growing infrastructure of venues, ERX Motor Park has become much more than a local racing facility and is quickly gaining recognition throughout the motorsports community as one of the best facilities in the Midwest.
“This (ERX) has always been a long-term commitment,” said Jeremy Meyer, Director of Business Development for ERX. “The Off-Road National is our showcase summer event and the growth we have seen in just three years is beyond expectations.”
While the Off-Road National might be over for another year, the activities at ERX continue with the Summer Beater-X Series on select Thursday nights; the Lupulin Brewing IPA Invitational on August 4; Get Busy Livin’ Music Festival on September 22, and Day of the Dozers on September 29. ERX EXTREME 5K PROVES TO BE MORE FUN THAN A WALK IN THE PARK FOR HUNDREDS OF PARTICIPANTS
A twisted course featuring 16 obstacles, scores of extreme runners and walkers, and a team of volunteers cement ERX Extreme 5K presented by Farrell’s Extreme Body Shaping for return in 2019, Derrick Justin Earns Fastest Time
Elk River, Minn. May 30, 2018 – If there’s one thing ERX Motor Park in Elk River is not, is complacent. Always looking for events to add to the venue’s growing roster, this spring marked the introduction of the ERX Extreme 5K presented by Farrell’s Extreme Body Shaping; and based on the muddy smiles from the hundreds of participants who tackled the natural terrain course and its 16 obstacles, the event was an extreme success.
Obstacle challenged 5k and 10k events are certainly not new but leave it to the competitive staff at ERX to put their own signature twist to the concept. With a course weaving its way through the rolling terrain of the 400-acre park, participants faced a wide breadth of challenges along the way including obstacles such as Trench Warfare, Snow-Nami, and the Eliminator.
“It was a great first year event,” said Taylor Carlson, Marketing Manager for the facility. “Everyone loved the course, we had a great turnout, and many said they’d not only be back next year but were returning with friends.”
The top overall finisher with the quickest time was Derrick Justin, who complimented ERX staffers on not just the track, but how well the event was organized. Those same words were echoed by Aaron Zappa of Elk River, the first competitor to complete the course. “It was outstanding! Everything was well built for an inaugural year event…it was challenging…it couldn’t have been any better.”
The ERX Extreme 5K is just one of many events the venue has planned for the upcoming summer season. Forthcoming events include Professional Bull Riding and Barrel Racing, Monster Truck Madness, Lupulin Brewing IPA Invitational tasting event, and a fan favorite Day of the Dozer. In addition, the Beater X compact car, truck and side-by-side race series is back, and the summer will be highlighted by the ERX Off-Road National, presented by Polaris, a weekend of professional short-course off-road truck racing July 13 and 14.

One way Polaris will showcase their off-road prowess will be through a celebrity race on Saturday afternoon, immediately following opening ceremonies. NATHAN FERDERER TOPS INAUGURAL FROSTBUSTER
Home-state hero Nathan Ferderer took down over 20 of the Midwest’s heaviest-hitters to win the AA class at the first-ever Frostbuster Grand Prix. The opening round of the new Timbersled Border Battle XC series presented by Custom Outfitters, the Frostbuster lived up to its name with 22” of snow covering the eight mile hare scramble loop just 10 days prior to race day.

Drew Higgins slices a piece of chocolate cake that was in the deep freeze just one week ago.
Airgroup/Enduro Engineering/Husqvarna rider Drew Higgins made the trek north from Texas and grabbed the holeshot on the two hour race and proceeded to battle with Sterling, Illinois’ Cody Barnes at the front of the field in the early going. Higgins had a fall near the end of lap one setting up a race-long dual between Barnes and Ferderer.

Illinois’ Cody Barnes made a surprise visit to Minnesota and challenged for the win throughout the day, finishing second overall.
Barnes would finish second overall with local supercross ace Jerry Robin rounding out the podium in third. Higgins would recover and finish fourth, followed by GasGas-mounted Nick Swenson in fifth. Swenson had a big get off of his own on the moto portion of the course when he cased a double and Supermaned into the sand exiting the track.

Multi-talented Jerry Robin (9047) was last to leave the AA row but quickly raced through the pack to finish on the podium in third.
Andrew Smith was one of several riders who came up from Missouri. Smith, racing in the Vet A class, cracked the top 10 overall and took home a Squatch trophy of his own for winning the A Overall. Multi-time Pro snowmobile XC champions Zach Herfindahl was seventh. Herfindahl just finished up his snow season last week and was putting his first hours on a new GasGas.

Andrew Smith was one of several Missouri racers to compete. Smith won the Vet A class, taking top overall honors in A and cracking the top 10 in AA.

477 riders and over 1,500 spectators took advantage of a perfect spring day to participate in the first round of the new Border Battle XC series.
Promoter RideX365 brought a big-time feel to the weekend with a massive vendor row and cross-promotion between well-known woods racers and some of the top snowmobile racers from the region who often cross-train on bikes. The event was held at ERX Motor Park, a 400 acre multi-sport racing facility that hosts regional snocross, short-course truck and UTV racing, Monster trucks, concerts and rodeos. The addition of off-road motorcycles was a perfect fit with their existing amenities and close proximity to the Twin Cities metro which is home to a large percentage of D23 racers.

Retired national pro snocross champion Robbie Malinoski (365) digs for an inside line off the start of the Vet A race.

Amateur racers negotiate a series of log jumps off the start of the race.

The ageless Matt Stavish jumped into AA and made a solid showing with a sixth place.

Factory Arctic Cat XC snowmobile champion Zach Herfindahl pins it through the “dune” section of the course leading to the moto track. Herf finished 7th in AA.

25 AA riders leave the snow-lined start of the Frostbuster in front of a packed house at ERX Motor Park.

Jayme French grabs the holeshot in 200A on his way to a class win.

Racers enter the short course truck track for a quick sand spring back into the woods.

Ferderer hoists the unique Frostbuster trophy flanked by runner-up Barnes (L) and Jerry Robin (R).

LUCAS OIL PARTNERS WITH ERX, CRANDON AND BARK RIVER TRACKS TO FORM NEW SHORT COURSE OFF-ROAD PLATFORM
Corona, CA (March 22, 2018) – For the first time in a decade, the visceral motorsport of short course racing will, once again, be unified – thanks to a newly completed partnership with Lucas Oil and a group of Midwest racing tracks that include: Crandon International Raceway (Wisconsin), Bark River International Raceway (Michigan), and ERX Motor Park (Minnesota).
“All of us in the short course world have worked tirelessly over the past 10 years to promote the sport and help it to reach its full potential,” explained Lucas Oil Executive Vice President Bob Patison. “This expansion is not only exciting for all sides, but it also incorporates big events at proven venues. The objective is to create one viable national touring series for the PRO categories in the next year or two, but we also want to address the economic realities of short course racing by examining a blended rules package and lowering operating costs in the near future.”
The long-term agreement was created to unify the sport on a national level over the course of the next two seasons and into the future. Today’s announcement is based upon the strengths, history and unique aspects of a form of motorsport that has deep roots in both the American west coast and Midwest. Short course racing began in the fall of 1970 in the tiny Northwoods town of Crandon, Wisconsin.
“We have been involved with this sport longer than anybody, but it was finally the right time to come together and work in one unified direction,” observed Crandon International Raceway President Cliff Flannery. “History is a great teacher. No major form of motorsports has operated successfully with two or more groups working against each other for racers, sponsors, fans or attention. Together with Lucas Oil, our goal is to bring racing fans the best athletes and highest level of competition at the biggest venues for years to come.”
For 2018, this new partnership will kick-off with the four weekend championship events, for both the PRO and Sportsman categories, which will compete this season under existing Midwest rules packages. Crandon International Raceway will host the season opener at the 25th Anniversary Forest County Potawatomi Community Brush Run on June 15th-17th. The competitors then travel over to the 3rd Annual Off Road Race at ERX on July 13th-14th then head over to the Bark River International Raceway for the August 10th-12th for the 43rd Bark River Off Road Rumble in the U.P. The season will then conclude at the 49th Annual World Championship Off Road Race and the Crandon World Cup/AMSOIL Cup held at Crandon International Raceway, August 31st – Sept. 2nd.
“Bark River is ecstatic to help originate the collaboration between the Midwest tracks and Lucas Oil. To create our own Midwest championship shows racers, fans and partners that we are positioning ourselves, in collaboration with our peers, to build and expand short course racing not only now, but for years to come,” comments Courtney Prost, Director of Development, Bark River International Raceway. “We have always had the best interest of racing in mind while taking these steps. In doing so, we are confident that we will be able to grow the number of athletes and level of competition we are bringing to Bark River, with the Lucas Oil group.”
The new venture also incorporates an extensive broadcast and online streaming package for Midwest races and corporate partners that includes the world-class Lucas Oil Production Studio team responsible for all of the Lucas Oil TV programming. PRO category racers can look forward to a total of 16 one hour broadcast shows on MAVTV (with multiple showings) that are comprised of four one hour shows – per race weekend. In addition, broadcast quality live streaming will cover approximately five hours of PRO and Sportsman categories – per race day – to be distributed internationally – via Lucas Oil Racing TV (LORTV).
“While we represent the newest purpose-built venue in short course racing, the spirit of cooperation between the Lucas Oil group and the Midwest tracks is the most positive development yet in helping us reach ERX’s full potential,” explained President Chris Carlson. “We are within an hour’s drive of a huge population base, located in the Minneapolis/Saint Paul area. I am confident that bringing the best teams, competition and exposure – via our new partnership with Lucas Oil – will drive our future success.
Lucas Oil and the award winning Lucas Oil Studios, along with the three Midwest track management groups, are working diligently on all of the logistics and as many details as possible. The details will be released as they become available over the coming days and weeks – leading up to each of the four scheduled weekends.
“We are working to finalize all of the preliminary plans,” stated Ritchie Lewis of Lucas Oil. “This all came about very quickly and with a tremendous amount of welcomed cooperation between Lucas Oil, Crandon, Bark River and ERX. From the moment we were notified, our team has worked tirelessly to ensure that we do our part in keeping short course racing alive and well in the Midwest. We are excited to work with the Sportsman and Pro teams in a manner that does not prevent anyone from racing. We want every short course competitor in the country to feel welcome and come out and support these tracks and have a good time while racing under the Lucas Oil banner.”

OEM RIDE DAY AT ERX DEEMED HUGE SUCCESS
ELK RIVER, Minn. (Feb. 8, 2018) – As soon as the snow dust settled on last weekend’s innovative and highly-entertaining ERX Eliminator snocross race, the groomers at ERX Motor Park began reworking and tuning the snocross track specifically for recreational snowmobilers of all ages to test the latest in Polaris, Ski-Doo and Arctic Cat snowmobiles.
Dubbed “Ride Day” at ERX, the consumer-faced event was a big hit as ERX wrapped up its 10th anniversary celebration weekend by giving back to the fans in the coolest of ways. All kinds of positive feedback on Ride Day poured into the ERX offices throughout the week. Here’s a sampling of what the snowmobile industry had to say about the event:
“The ERX Demo Day was a huge success for us. It was great to see people who have driven a snowmobile before, and some that have never been on one, get the chance to drive the 2018 Arctic Cat models. With snow being scarce the past few years it is so nice to have a place like ERX to bring people out and get a ride in. It is something that we hope we can do again soon!” – PJ Wanderscheid, Country Cat
“Most of the compliments we received was for ERX having the event to start with and also being able to try out the latest machines from each manufacture on a competitive style course. Another compliment we received was for having a variety of machines ranging from mountain to trail models as well as having various Ski-Doo models with the 850 E-TEC to give people a better perspective on the power and responsiveness from the new big bore engine. We did also hear from quite a few people that the Ski-Doo Renegade was the fan favorite with one of the smoothest ride and more planted feeling in the corners, giving the average rider more confidence in their riding ability. Overall everyone seemed to have a wonderful time and we look forward to being there next year.” – Eric Swaser, Power Lodge
“Ride Day at ERX was a huge success and it was great to see so many people come out and enjoy a fun winter activity that Minnesota has to offer! My favorite part of the event was watching all the children get out and be able to ride a snowmobiles. Introducing snowmobiles to our next generation is so important and this is a perfect way for us to do it! Our staff was honored to be able to get out with the community at ERX Motor Park and give people a chance to test drive a Polaris snowmobile and ask questions regarding the sleds.” – Kathy Bethke, Mies Outland
“The ERX track brought out what each machine was capable of which was great to see. I know people enjoyed the variety of machines that were on hand as well. Being able to get direct feedback and give people information while on a sled is beyond perfect conditions for us to succeed.” – AJ Oster, Power Lodge
The staff at ERX Motor Park would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone that came out and helped us celebrate our 10th anniversary. From the fans to the racers, track workers, dealers and industry members, thank you for being a part of the celebration. We look forward to many more memories at the track with you!

KODY KAMM WINS INAUGURAL ERX ELIMINATOR
Kamm goes undefeated through the field of 15 top professional Snocross racers during the head-to-head Snocross racing competition at ERX Motor Park Friday night.
ELK RIVER, Minn. (Feb. 3, 2018) – Hentges Racing/Polaris’ Kody Kamm won the inaugural ERX Eliminator, presented by Woodie’s Racing/Sunoco Fuels last night at ERX Motor Park, going undefeated through the winner’s bracket and defeating Lincoln Lemieux (Scheuring Speed Sports/Ski-Doo), who won the loser’s bracket, in the night’s final race to earn $10,000 (of the $20,000 total purse).
“Honestly, I really wasn’t that confident about tonight. Just decided to do this race yesterday,” said Kamm. “Came out with the fastest times in practice and won all day. So I was really pumped with that.”
Petter Narsa flies high during the qualifying rounds.
The qualifying rounds proved prophetic to the semifinal matchups as the number one, two, three and four seeds made the semis of the ERX Eliminator winner’s bracket, with Kamm and his Hentges Racing/Polaris teammate Petter Narsa, the number three seed, reaching the winner’s bracket finals. Kamm had defeated number four seed Kyle Pallin (Team LaVallee/Polaris) in his bracket, while Narsa made the winner’s bracket finals with a win over number two seed – and top Pro Lite finisher – Nisse Kjellstrom (Arctic Cat).
Kamm’s route to winning the lion’s share ($10K) of the $20,000 total Eliminator purse began yesterday afternoon with a blistering 46.969 qualifying run – the only sub-47 second run of the day on the rugged and technical ERX Motor Park track. Kamm opened the first round of one-on-one Eliminator racing with a win over number 16 seed Evan Daudt (Team LaVallee/Polaris). In round two, Kamm topped a fast Johan Lidman (Woodie’s Racing/Arctic Cat), before beating Pallin to the checkers in the semis.
The top-16 racers prepare to battle for the $10k.
Narsa’s run to the winner’s bracket finals would go through number 14 seed Travis Muller (Arctic Cat) in the opening round, number eight seed Lemieux in round two and Kjellstrom in the semis.
In the winner’s bracket finals, Kamm pulled another big start and, in his effort to keep up, Narsa made a mistake in the first jump section, coming up short, and handing the win to Kamm.
In the loser’s bracket Pallin and Lemieux would meet in the semis with Lemieux grabbing a clean holeshot and running away from Pallin. Narsa, following his winner’s bracket final loss to teammate Kamm, would meet Lemieux to decide the loser’s bracket winner – which would be Lemieux, avenging his loss in round two to Narsa. Narsa would end up third and pocket $1,500.
Said Narsa: “I wanted more, but I’m happy with this. Kody (Kamm) buys dinner tonight.”
Back to the final race of the Eliminator, Kamm and Lemieux faced off with Lemieux making things interesting, winning the battle to the first turn, only to give up the lead to Kamm soon thereafter. Lemieux would keep it close through the end of the opening lap, but a late mistake would end it. Kamm, the defending ISOC Snocross Pro Open champion, would pocket a cool $10K on the evening, with Lemieux earning $2,500 for his second place effort.
Added Lemieux: “Overall the track was great. Lot of big jumps, track was fast. This was a lot of fun.”
